'paravent' by mona hatoum at art basel 2008




born in lebanon, artist mona hatoum has lived in london since 1975 where she studied at the byam shaw school
of art and the slade school of art. she was nominated for the prestigious turner prize in 1995, which was won by
damien hirst. she initially worked in performance art and has since moved into sculpture and installation.
she displayed ‘paravent’ a black finished steel folding screen through gallery max hetzler at this year's art basel.
each panel of the paravent is an enlarged version of a steel cheese grater. she is currently
exhibiting at max hetzler in berlin with ‘unhomely’ a show which will run until june 28th.
